Get out the Vet is organized by veterans uniting to register our military, get out the overseas military vote, and watch the polls to ensure a fair and fraud-free election.
Volunteer: Veterans—Active, Reserve, Guard, Retired, and family members—join us by pressing the volunteer button and go to our sign-up page. We need help across the nation from veterans, families, and friends to help get out the overseas military vote and to support our registration analysis and operations in the field.
Get Out the Vet is working on these major projects:
- MILITARY OVERSEAS VOTING: In light of the complete DoD disaster in setting up election assistance offices this year and the subsequent drop in military ballot requests, Get Out the Vet has launched a campaign to inform our troops on how to register, request ballots, and vote online.
- FEDERAL WRITE-IN ABSENTEE BALLOT: Overseas military can use the FWAB all the way up to Election Day if they have not received their state/county ballot on time. But troops aren’t getting the word. Get Out the Vet has launched an e-mail campaign to let them know how to do this.
- REDUCING VOTER INTIMIDATION: Get Out the Vet has partnered with former/retired Special Operations Force members to observe, report, and post videos of voter intimidation. We now have sufficient resources to observe all polling places with a history of voter intimidation.
- MONITORING ELECTIONS: Get Out the Vet is recruiting veterans to provide poll watchers and poll workers this election.
Contribute: Like any other campaign, we need money: to access voter databases; publicize via social media, internet, and talk shows; pay for travel; set up voter command centers on election day; and pay a small staff. We appreciate any contribution you can give. Press the donate button to contribute online via Paypal. If you are interested in supporting us with a large contribution not over the internet, e-mail us at contribute@getoutthevet.com.
Register & Vote: For active-duty members of the Armed Forces, Merchant Marine, Public Health Service, NOAA, and their family members posted overseas, there is still time to register to vote and request your ballots. For help, press the “Register” button to the right for instructions, links, and deadlines for your state or territory..
Even if your ballot doesn’t get there on time, you can still vote with the Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB). You can get the ballot online, download it, and send it in by Election Day. All states must accept this ballot and most states allow it to be e-mailed or faxed. For instructions and links, just press the “Vote” button on the left.

JUST ONE THING WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD OF THIS SOONER?????? SEEMS LIKE THE 12TH HOUR, ,,AND NOW YOU SEEK RESULTS……..
We have been around and have been doing TV and radio for weeks. Facebook and this site has been up for months. Been tweeting for similar amounts of time. Published a book in August. Sorry you didn’t find us earlier. BB
WHERE ARE YOUR FOLKS IN PHILLY WHERE THE NEW BLACK PANTHERS ARE BACK AGAIN IN FORCE AT THE POLLS?????
Hello How can I help.
At this point, connect with your local party HQ.
Ok exactly where will u be observing at?? Will it be in Kansas, Oklahoma, Montana, North Dakota??? Or will it be in philadelphia New York and Chicago??? U get my point right?? Also is this for profit or not for profit organization just wondering because u are a dot com and not dot org!!!
We are observing directly in about 5 cities/counties this year. We have directed volunteers from other areas to connect with their local poll watching organizations. The use of .com or .org does not imply for profit or not for profit. We own the domain for both. Have chosen to use the .com extension this year because it is easier for most people to find.
Your form for volunteering fails to include Coast Guard members.
No insult intended. We obviously left it off in error. Can’t fix it today but will do so for the future.
Cleveland area of Ohio – Black Panthers are apparently there waiting to use their intimidate tactics. Saw it posted on facebook.
We’re watching it too. So much video already that we are searching other areas.
WHERE ARE THE SEALS IN PHILLY WHERE THE NEW BLACK PANTHERS HAVE REAPPEARED TO INTIMIDATE VOTERS AT A WHOLE BUNCH OF POLLING STATIONS AND PRECINTS WHERE THE DEMOCRATS OFFICIALS HAVE THROWN OUT GOP POLL WATCHERS???
NEED ACTION NOW IN PHILLY…WHOEVER IS IN CHARGE OF THIS, PLEASE PUT ACTION IN PLACE OF PROMISES AND GO STARE THESE NBP NITWITS IN THE EYEBALLS.
Somebody needs to go hang out with the Black Panthers at the Philly polling sites that are trying to intimidate Republican voters.
This site has been, in my opinion, a TOTAL waste of time. Several “problems” were known in at least a dozen states. Black Panthers showed up AGAIN at the same place they were last year in Philly, Black Panthers were in Ohio and Fl. No one was told, asked or anything….No Vets showed up anywhere I heard from in several states.
I have many connections in the TV News business and have heard quite a few voting site “problems” that were blatant and never addressed. A lot of them should have been known WELL in advance, but nothing from this site.
Sorry, but you failed! I invest a lot of time and resources supporting various causes and concerns, but I only invest in things/people that actually DO something. This one does NOT!
Awaiting “moderation”? Oh, I see, you only show comments you “approve”!
Just anothey organization that talks big but actually does nothing. Shows that you are only interested in taking people’s money.
TVOz…..Vietnam Marine Combat Vet. Glad I had men around me there that actually were about doing things they said!
Just wanted to reply to these. First of all, we took a couple of months off after the election. This year we were a small volunteer group–all of us have day jobs–and needed to get caught up in those after the election.
We had SOF volunteers in 5 cities and did what we said we would do. The volunteers observed and reported and we had a liaison with the press. As a note, we found this election that the NBPP in Philadelphia was not engaging in intimidation on election day, our observer spoke to the representatives of that organization at the polling site where there had been issues in the past, and we posted to that effect. Frankly, although many feared potential intimidation as had occurred in 2008, this and other organizations played by the rules.
The main thrust of our campaign was getting out the overseas military vote. While the final numbers will not be in for several months, early reports indicate that overseas military voting was up considerably (perhaps over 30%) from that in 2008–the last comparable election–and up even more over 2010. We think that the e-mail campaign that we launched within the .mil system was part of that–we had significant support from the SEL community that helped our message go viral.
Could we have done more? Probably not this first year. However, we did what we said we would do and established a foundation for doing more in 2014 and beyond.
